Round Two

I have started another sketchbook the first two pages are the same as before, well almost I did make another stencil. Looking back at the two colours I've decided to stick with red. I know that will make it the same as Gina's but red and poppies have been my favourites for some time now and you just can't change things like that. I'm clearly not finished with poppies and I already have another project in mind but on a large scale.

Here I've added some words but it doesn't show very well. On the green page I used some stamps that I've had for a while which came in a very cute box but I can't remember where from. The letters used on the red page came from the local newspaper. I really enjoyed doing this. So much so that I have already made another stencil for the next page.

This is the cute stencil box, just incase you wanted to see it.

Now for a real treat. Look what I made all by myself and probably never again. It's social stitching today so I made cakes to go with the tea.

I hope there's enough.

Plans That Don't work

Well I hope you all had a good weekend - mine didn't go according to plan, more fool me for thinking it would.

I had set Saturday evening aside to make Steph's wrap but before I started I thought I would give her a call just to see how she was and I'm so glad I did. The little madam doesn't want one now. Aaaargh !

I did manage to start experimenting with poppies, and that didn't go according to plan either.

This is the poppy stitched straight onto the embellishing. It didn't work, because they are made from paper the stitching is splitting it. I'm sure that if I backed with some iron on interfacing it would work better but you would see it. I did think about painting the interfacing but the colour would need to be exact, and how long would it take to find the right colour? I am running short of patience at the moment so it is onto plan B. It does look pretty though.

Remember this little book? I didn't like the binding so I have re-bound it and added some felt balls.

I have started to fill the pages with my chosen shape. Hopefully soon this will be a finished piece of homework.

I thought you might like to see these they came into the shop today. I think they are fantastic.

Not sure if I will get the chance to post again this week. Steph is coming home tomorrow so I could end up in the looney bin ! I'm sure once Saturday is here she will have calmed down.
Hope you all have a good weekend.

Countdown - seven days to go!

I can't believe a week has passed since I last blogged. It has been a very busy week and I've had a horrible cold that seems to be hanging on like a toddler clinging to your leg, it just won't go away.

I have managed to do some work on my hanging but not as much as I wanted and needed to get done. I've bound the edges in the way you would a quilt. This picture doesn't do them justice they look much much nicer in real life. I am still making leaves, I have painted some Lutradur and I'm going to experiment with it and see what kind of leaves it makes. I have a mental issue with Lutradur. I know it's a useful fabric and I have seen beautiful pieces of work created by other people using it but I don't seem to get on with it. So here's hoping.

Today I might start experimenting with the poppies. That's the exciting bit.

Tonight however is wrap night. I really have got to make it, the wedding is a week today so it is now a matter of urgency! This time next week we will be at the hairdresser. Stephanie has got to be there for 8:00am, so I won't get a lie in!
